Mirpur shrine attack: Members of Jamaat, affiliated bodies named in case

leadnews.A case has been filed against nine named individuals and 100-150 unidentified members of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and its affiliated organisations over the recent attack on Hazrat Shah Ali shrine in Mirpur.

The named accused are Md Ali Akbar, 48; Md Bappa, 35; Md Babu, 45; Md Kawsar, 26; Azam, 40; Sheikh Md Russell, 38; Kazi Zahir, 52; Md Mizan, 38; and Kazi Ponir, 50.

Reshmi Begum, 40, a devotee who has been visiting the shrine for the last 17 years, filed the case with Shah Ali Police Station tonight, confirmed DMP Deputy Commissioner (Mirpur division) Md Mostak Sarker.

“We are working on it,” he said, adding that three individuals have already been arrested in connection with the incident.
